Manuel Weber grew up in northern Hesse. In 2000, he moved to Hamburg, studied political science and became a founding member of attac Germany. The preoccupation with politics and society remained his passion and influences his work in many ways.

In 2005 he began his studies at the Hamburg School of Music for Jazz and Popular Music, trained in repetition, conducting and singing with Matthias Stötzel and in composition with Benedikt Burghardt.

After several projects in the off theater scene of Hamburg, he worked as musical director at St. Pauli Theater HamburgDeutsches Schauspielhaus HamburgKampnagelSchleswig Holstein Musikfestival and Ruhrfestspiele Recklinghausen. He worked with directors such as Jerôme Savary, Ulrich Waller, Dania Hohmann and Juergen Nerger and actors Ulrich Tukur, Angela Winkler, Peter Jordan, Josephin Busch, Anneke Schwabe, Katja Danowski, Uwe Bohm, Christian Redl, Mina Tander and Peter Lohmeyer.

In 2009 he made his first appearance as a theater composer with music for the play THE CHIPS ARE DOWN  by Jean-Paul Sartre. In the following years he set EIN FRÄULEIN WIRD VERKAUFT by Ödön von Horvath to music and composed the opera MONSTERBALLADE for the Ruhrfestspiele Recklinghausen.

In 2009, he obtained a position as composer and musical supervisor at the Hansa Theatre Hamburg which is now in its 13th season. The experience of working at a Varieté theater, arranging and composing music for artistic performances offers Weber a completely new stimulus.

In 2015, he produced and composed the pop opera NACH HAUSE, which premiered at the Reeperbahn Festival. It was his first collaboration with director Luisa Taraz. He already knew the actors Peter Lohmeyer and Tim Grobe from earlier productions. The same team also appeared two years later in the short film IDOL, which played at over 50 film festivals worldwide and won several awards.

His current project uːmanu stems from several years of involvement with electronic music and sound production techniques. His alter ego loves to stir up the pop world with wayward contributions.
