Nach Hause

pop oper

Wilma wants to look for her home in her plans, Paul thinks he lost her in his youth. The Longing and the Dreamwalker. The mismatched couple meets at the funeral of a mutual friend. Can a dead man awaken the love of life?

PAUL: I want to follow you to Vanuatu.
WILMA: On the boat?
PAUL: On Twitter

In NACH HAUSE we see into a triangular relationship, whereby one of this constellation is already dead. From beyond the grave, he acts as narrator, thread weaver and manipulator. Actor Peter Lohmeyer, who needs no introduction in Hamburg, will speak and play this very much alive dead man. The character of the plotting Wilma will be played by the young HfMT graduate Milena Straube. Tim Grobe, for many years part of the ensemble of the Deutsches Schauspielhaus, will take on the role of the dreaming Paul.

NACH HAUSE is a pop opera. In this format, singing and speaking acts are combined. In contrast to the musical, however, the pop opera dispenses with artificial singing voices and the musical pieces are guided in particular by the characters’ dialogues. The play was written by the young author Christiane Kalss (Lenz Dramatist Prize) based on a concept by composer Manuel Weber, who wrote his fifth stage composition with NACH HAUSE. The song lyrics were written by the Hamburg musician duo Janina Rockt and Catharina Boutari.

The piece will premiere in semi-staged form at the Reeperbahn Festival on September 26, 2015 at 6:00 pm. It will be a One Week Stand, meaning a production that will be rehearsed in just seven days of rehearsals. The performances will take place at Bahnhof Pauli, the new club between Docks and the Schmidt Theater. The second performance is also on September 26 at 8:10 pm. It will be directed by Hamburg-based up-and-coming director Luisa Taraz.
